Automation Test Lead

Rate: £400 - £500

Contract Length: 6 months initially

IR35 Status: Outside

Location: Hybrid - 1 day a week in Northamptonshire

Start date: ASAP

We're working with a financial services company undergoing a significant tech transformation, and we're hiring Test Automation experts to help build a full end-to-end test automation suite from the ground up. You will ideally have experience working on greenfield projects in a newly created technology team as they transition legacy systems to a cutting-edge data platform.

You'll play a key role in shaping the test strategy, selecting tooling, and ensuring quality across modern, cloud-based systems and SaaS integrations.

About You

Test Automation expertise, especially API and integration testing.
Hands-on delivery in cloud-based or SaaS environments.
Deep knowledge of data validation and modern testing tools.
Ability to lead testing strategy and drive quality end-to-end.
The Role

Design, build, and own scalable test automation frameworks.
Lead tool selection and test strategy definition.
Automate tests for APIs, backend services, and data pipelines.
Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines with developers and DevOps teams.
Conduct performance, security, and integration testing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and uphold QA best practices.
Ensure quality and readiness of a full operational system rebuild.
Tech & Tooling

Automated API testing: Postman, SoapUI, Jmeter or similar
Automated Web testing: Selenium, Cypress, BrowserStack or similar
Robotic Process Automation: Nintex RPA or similar (can be very powerful for use in testing and business process automation)
Key Deliverables

Define and deliver a robust automation framework.
Collaborate on testing with internal teams and 3rd parties.
Support go-live readiness, including data migration validation.
Help recruit and onboard a permanent Test Engineer.
