Express Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with one of the UK’s most unique control software engineering firms. Due to being recently acquired by a global software consortium, our client is seeking the addition of a Controls Software Engineer to join their growing team.

Due to the nature of the role, occasional field work is required to attend client sites to perform software installation and configuration of automation systems. As a result, a full UK Driving License is essential.

In return, you can expect to receive a generous starting salary of up to £50,000, plus full entitlement to an annual KPI bonus scheme, paid overtime, 6% employer pension contributions, along with a generous holiday package with the ability to ecru extra days with length of service.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in each phase of the software life cycle, including interface design, programming, configuration and site implementation of automation control systems

  • Develop software for bespoke mill control systems using a mix of MS Visual Studio, C++, SQL and VB.NET

  • Work closely with Control Systems Engineers to upgrade PLC and HMI systems and troubleshoot and test live systems both remotely and on site

  • Develop key knowledge of bespoke ERP system, and assist with maintaining database systems, including dashboards and extracting analytic reports to review performance

  • Adhere to ISO 9001 industry quality standards

  • Use SQL databases daily to produce customized reports

  • Collaborate with the Software Tester to resolve bug tracker issues and facilitate API integrations

  • Consult closely with cross departmental management team, key stakeholders and on-site customers

    Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrable C/C++ programming experience essential

  • Previous experience in the process control or automation sector highly advantageous

  • Proven capability with some form of PLC version programming, SCADA and HMI system design a distinct advantage

  • Experienced with SQL servers and other associated analytic tools essential

  • Experience configuring and implementing ERP systems would be useful

  • Experience with C# .NET web framework desirable

  • Ability to build professional rapport with clients

  • Stakeholder management experience

  • Demonstrable experience working with Agile or Waterfall project methodologies

  • Full UK Driving License essential
