Are you an experienced Data Engineer with strong SQL expertise and exposure to both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments? This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative data team working across a diverse technology stack, helping to design, build, and optimise data solutions that drive business insight and performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL pipelines and data integrations across mixed database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, cloud‑based solutions).
  • Build, enhance, and optimise data models, warehouses, and reporting structures to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and scalable.
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts, Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to deliver reliable and high‑performing data solutions.
  • Manage and integrate data from multiple on‑premise and cloud platforms (such as Oracle Data Warehouse, Azure, or AWS).
  • Support data migration, transformation, and modernisation initiatives, ensuring smooth transition and minimal disruption.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and documentation are maintained to organisational and regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot database performance issues, implement optimisation techniques, and ensure system reliability.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role within a complex data environment.
  • Proficiency in SQL, with hands‑on experience using Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server for data manipulation, query optimisation, and stored‑procedure development.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Oracle Data Integrator, or Azure Data Factory.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and data modelling techniques.
  • Working knowledge of Python or another scripting language for automation and data processing.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hybrid data architectures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills with the ability to work in a hybrid environment (typically 2–3 days per week on‑site in Newcastle).
  • Hybrid working – typically 2–3 days per week in the Newcastle office.
