🚨 We're Hiring: Data Engineer – Insurance Data & Power BI

Are you a data expert with strong SQL and Power BI skills, and experience in the London Market insurance space? My client is looking for a Data Engineer to join their London-based team to help build and support the growing data infrastructure.


You’ll play a key role in the development of the data warehouse, data marts, system integrations, and Power BI dashboards, supporting business-critical insights across Underwriting, Claims, and Operations. This role offers exposure to international projects while remaining rooted in the dynamic London Market.


đź”§ What You'll Be Doing

  • Collaborate with the Lead Data Engineer and Business Analysts to define and deliver data solutions
  • Design and support a star schema-based data warehouse
  • Perform application data modelling and develop internal/external data integrations
  • Build insightful and actionable Power BI dashboards and reports
  • Provide proactive data support services to business users
  • Support the integration of business systems and data
  • Develop robust reconciliation and unit testing processes
  • Document solutions, processes, and technical decisions clearly


✅ What We’re Looking For

Technical Skills

  • Strong SQL Server and T-SQL expertise
  • Deep understanding of data warehouse (DWH) modelling and star schema design
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Pipelines, and Fabric
  • Proficient with Power BI dashboard/report development
  • Familiar with DevOps, Git, and modern CI/CD practices
  • Solid understanding of insurance data – including both syndicate and company markets


Professional Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent documentation and organisation skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to independently manage tasks and deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality deliverables
  • Proven problem-solving and solution-design capabilities
  • Comfortable analysing data to inform requirements and decision-making


Domain Knowledge

  • London Market / insurance experience (required)
  • Understanding of application databases, testing, and reconciliation procedures
  • Experience working with international teams/projects is a plus
