Job Title: Contract Software Engineer (Mid to Senior Level)

Location: UK-based (ideally London or Midlands)

Start Date: 26 February 2025

Contract Duration: 4 Months

Role Overview: On behalf of our client, we are seeking three mid to senior-level contract software engineers to significantly scale an existing flood forecasting pipeline and integrate a new model. This position involves complex problem-solving and innovation in climate technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Enhance and develop software solutions to scale up the flood forecasting system tenfold.
Collaborate with a dynamic team to design and implement a new forecasting model.
Participate in occasional offsite meetings in Loughborough or London (travel and accommodation expenses will be covered).
Ensure that software solutions meet functional and technical specifications.
Interface with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure high-quality deliverables.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Proficient in Python and AWS.
Experience in GIS applications.
Familiarity with Airflow is preferred.
AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional) is advantageous.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must have the right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.

Ideal Candidate:

Mid to senior-level experience in software engineering, with a focus on developing scalable solutions.
Interested in climate technology and motivated to impact disaster management.
Able to commit to the full duration of the contract and participate in required offsite activities.
