Summary for IT Manager

The purpose of this position is to be responsible and accountable for all IT related work for 2 sites.

Job Duties for IT Manager

  • Setting up and maintaining servers across both sites, ensuring that sufficient server infrastructure is always maintained and updated as necessary, ensuring a robust and reliable system, including back-up systems

  • Ensuring the security of the company network and backup are always met across both sites.

  • Accountable for ERP maintenance and configuration, including SQL reporting from the ERP SQL server.

  • Responsible for Company CCTV, Audio configuration, maintenance and diagnostics, liaising with 3rd party providers as appropriate. Includes automated email scanner programme maintenance.

  • Providing PC’s and related infrastructure for new starters or making necessary changes to settings /permissions/files/programmes etc. as required due to staff changes.

  • Provide troubleshooting support to all internal Company IT users and on all IT related infrastructure, including phones, photocopiers, etc. Providing technical support for end users daily. This is to include telephone/RDT assistance to external sales reps.

  • Diagnose network problems slowness/outages etc. at both local and wide area levels, proactively identifying potential risks and proposing/implementing short and long-term improvements for the entire scope of IT infrastructure.

  • Monitoring and maintaining antivirus/spam/malware systems, inc. ethical hacking. Reviewing and administering security and permissions across the network to always ensure up to date.

  • Liaise with 3rd party software, hardware and service providers on all IT related matters.

  • Identifying/organising/setting up/installing peripheral devices (such as printers) across the network as required

  • Scheduling upgrades and updates for both soft and hardware as appropriate.

  • Responsible for maintenance of Office 365. Company Domain and UPS.

  • Collating all types of user feedback and data, analysing and proposing changes. Develop and maintain support process including user manuals and training aids to assist end users as required.

  • Responsible for the maintaining the Company backup maintenance programme, including testing to ensure 100% functionality and reliability.

  • Various project work that improves the usage/output of internal ERP system for the end user, as per agreed parameters.

  • Daily line management of one staff member

  • Maintain IT asset register.

  • Produce Cap Ex and annual budgetary proposals, presenting to senior management.

    Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications for IT Manager

  • Have a relevant IT Degree, BTEC National Certificate/Diploma for IT Practitioners, Microsoft Certification or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, ideally in a similar environment that uses ERP systems.

  • People management skills, setting day to day priorities and motivating IT technician.

  • Training skills – developing best working practices of new equipment and software – training and interacting with other users.

  • Ideally able to demonstrate an integrated range of technical skills, including: Bodet bespoke Time and Attendance SQL server, TeamViewer/RDT/Splastop, Radan CAD CAM software, Autodesk Inventor including Vault, ALE Phone server and software and ERP support (SQL server based)

  • High level of competence in SQL based programming.

  • Intermediate/advanced in the use of MS office-based programmes (primarily to assist other users with problems)

  • A good all round understanding IT infrastructure within a business environment is essential with a flair to analyse problems and develop/propose and implement improvements to the system at all levels.

  • Accurate and articulate report writing skills.

  • Filing of reports/documents associated requires an organised and methodical approach.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels is essential including third party providers.

  • Car and driving licence required due to need to travel from normal place of work to another site.
