Software Engineer

NET Developer - Sheffield - Up to £48k + Bonus
Location: Sheffield (Hybrid - 4 days/week in office for first 6 months, then 2 days/week)
Salary: £38,000 - £48,000 DOE + Bi-Annual Bonuses (typically £3-4k)
Hours: 35-hour week (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm)

Avanti Recruitment is partnering with a long-established software development company based in Sheffield, with over 20 years’ experience building bespoke operational systems for secure and specialist environments. Known for their tailored software solutions and long-term client relationships, their tech is used in high-stakes, real-world settings.

Unlike many dev roles, their team is directly involved with clients throughout the full software lifecycle - from initial scoping and proposal through to testing and release.

The Role

You’ll be joining a tight-knit dev team as part of a key modernisation project to migrate their core booking and ticketing system from .NET Framework (including some legacy VB.NET) to modern .NET Core. This system sits at the heart of the business and is critical to daily operations, making this a high-impact role from day one.

It’s an ideal opportunity for someone who wants ownership, variety, and meaningful interaction with end users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with clients to gather and clarify requirements

  • Develop bespoke software using .NET and C#

  • Write documentation and support release coordination

  • Collaborate closely with the wider development team

    Essential Skills

  • Solid experience with .NET and C#

  • SQL Server

  • API development

  • Driving license and access to a car

  • Eligible for UK Government SC Clearance

    Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Exposure to Angular or Node.js

  • Azure experience

  • Any VB.NET knowledge (for migration context)

    Hybrid Working

  • First 6 months: 4 days/week in the Sheffield office

  • After 6 months: 2 days/week in the office

    Benefits

    £35,000 - £48,000 depending on experience.

  • Bi-annual performance bonus (last year averaged £3-4k per developer)
