About the Job

The role can be either be based in our offices in Keele University or Camberley, Surrey. We will also consider remote candidates depending on their suitability and location in the UK.

We have recently established a modern work setting to support the execution of our projects. Some travel will be expected for site visits and meetings where necessary.

You will handle multiple customer projects with varied engineering requirements and deliverables and see these through from order booking to customer handover. You will also provide support and advise our sales teams during the bid phase to ensure the customer's specifications and technical constraints are adhered to, while ensuring Alfa Laval is positioned to provide them.

The projects will be of varied value and complexity but will all revolve around Alfa Laval core equipment (decanter centrifuges, belt presses, belt thickeners, drum thickeners).

The project engineer will ensure that Alfa Laval’s customer commitments are delivered in line with commercial and time constraints. You will be responsible for moving the projects from kick-off through the design - manufacture -installation - commissioning phases. Engaging with internal functions along the way to ensure purchasing and invoicing processes are met.

It will be the project engineer´s responsibility to understand and manage time and resources so that projects are delivered on time, on spec and on budget. You will have a support resource available to contribute to the overall delivery and will be responsible for the delegation of these work tasks.

The project engineer is responsible commercially for the project and will need to ensure accurate commercial records are kept and to provide robust justification for deviations and changes – both internally and externally.

Who you are

We are looking for an experienced project engineer who has worked within a similar role to join a multi-disciplined engineering department.

  • You are autonomous and agile, self-reliant in prioritising, initiating and completing multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

  • You have a customer-focused approach to projects with an appreciation of time, cost and resources.

  • You are able to network and form internal relationships to ensure customer query fulfilment.

  • You are able to delegate and prioritise tasks to support members in completing activities in line with customer expectations.

  • You are confident when facing customers and other stakeholders and have the ability to commercially manage multiple projects and provide concise updates to peers and management.

  • You have fantastic communication skills.

  • You are structured, organised and have the ability to self motivate, use initiative and drive tasks through to completion.

    What you know

  • You have an appreciation of engineering fundamentals.

  • You must be experienced in project delivery with a proven track record.

  • You have technical qualifications and/or have served significant time in engineering related roles.

  • A background with some of Alfa Laval’s products would be desirable – particularly in separation, dewatering or thickening.

  • An appreciation and good understanding of Windows and Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential. Experience with SharePoint is also preferable.

  • Experience operating in an NEC project environment.

  • You have an appreciation of policy and procedures.

  • You have a full driving license.
