    Role

    We are seeking a Refrigeration Systems Designer to support the design, development, and optimisation of refrigeration systems and layouts for commercial applications. This role will work closely with sales, project management, and technical teams to provide engineering expertise, ensuring our solutions meet customer requirements, industry standards, and energy efficiency targets.

    Refrigeration System Design & Engineering

  • Develop detailed refrigeration system designs, layouts, and schematics using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software.

  • Select and specify refrigeration components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and controls.

  • Design energy-efficient and sustainable refrigeration solutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Provide thermal load calculations, pipework sizing for direct expansion refrigeration systems (Co2) and semi-plug in (waterloop) hydraulic calculations, and airflow analysis to optimise system performance.

    Technical Support & Collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, project managers, and installation teams to provide technical expertise and support.

  • Assist in the development of new refrigeration technologies and system innovations.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and assess site requirements to determine the best system configurations.

  • Ensure all designs comply with F-Gas regulations, HACCP guidelines, and energy efficiency requirements.

    Project & Customer Engagement

  • Support customer consultations, technical presentations, and proposal development.

  • Assist in the evaluation of new products, technologies, and refrigerants to enhance system performance.

  • Provide technical documentation, manuals, and training materials for customers and internal teams.

  • Creation of project documentation (drawing pipe system, PID Diagrams, cable lists, heating & cooling load calcs)

    Remuneration

  • Salary circa £45k - £50K

  • Pension

    Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration Engineering, or a related field.

  • 2+ years’ experience in refrigeration system design, commercial cooling, or HVAC engineering.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) for designing system layouts.

  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, refrigeration cycles, and energy efficiency principles.

  • Understanding of F-Gas regulations, natural refrigerants, and sustainable refrigeration solutions.

  • Ability to analyse technical data, perform calculations, and optimize system designs.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills
