Senior Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin)
Cambridge - Hybrid
Up to £80,000

I am currently recruiting for a fully funded UK-based financial technology start-up. They are using cloud and blockchain technology to simplify trade through a secure, compliant and scalable platform that reduces cost and friction and increases operational efficiency and transparency that mitigates overall risk, focusing on derivatives trading.

They are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong Java and Kotlin skills to join their engineering team. You will play a key role in building and evolving their CDM-based event processing engine and supporting platform components. This role requires hands-on coding, system design, and an appetite for solving complex problems in financial services infrastructure

You will need the following skills and experience:

5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including production systems in Java or Kotlin (ideally both)
Deep understanding of object-oriented and functional programming paradigms
Experience building distributed systems and RESTful APIs
Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging (e.g., Kafka)
Proficient in modern CI/CD workflows, containerisation (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
Solid understanding of version control (Git) and engineering best practices
Majority of the engineering team is currently based in their Cambridge Science Park office, operating under a hybrid working model, going into the office 2-3 days a week. They are offering a salary of up to £80,000 (depending on experience) plus benefits and share options.
