FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Solihull.

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced SQL DBA to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining their SQL Server databases, ensuring their performance, availability, and security. The SQL DBA will work closely with the development and operations teams to support their clients' database needs and provide expert guidance on best practice.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain SQL Server databases, including installation, configuration, and upgrades

  • Monitor database performance and optimise queries for efficiency

  • Implement and maintain database security measures to protect sensitive data

  • Perform regular database backups and recovery procedures

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and incidents

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to support database-related projects

  • Develop and maintain documentation for database processes and procedures

    Requirements

  • At least 5 years’ experience as an SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)

  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server database management and administration

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is required

  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimisation

  • Familiarity with database security best practices

  • Up to date with the latest SQL Server technologies and best practices

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Must have live SC Clearance
