CMA is partnering with a well-established professional services firm based near Eastleigh as they recruit a System Accountant on a fixed-term contract until April 2026.  This is a newly scoped role within the finance team and presents an excellent opportunity for a technically minded finance professional to take ownership of the firm’s finance systems during a key period of development and change.

The business operates in a regulated, professional services environment and is known for its collaborative and supportive culture. With modern offices and hybrid working on offer, this role would suit someone with a blend of systems knowledge, accounting expertise and a proactive approach to process improvement.

What will the System Accountant role involve?

Maintain and develop financial systems, reporting tools and data integrations
Work closely with finance and IT teams to translate accounting needs into system solutions
Manage upgrades and enhancements, and support third-party tool integrations
Build and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures and data extracts
Create dynamic dashboards and reports using Power BI for internal stakeholders
Maintain key user records, performance metrics, and ensure data accuracy
Produce regular KPI packs and support month-end/year-end reporting from a systems perspective
Provide first-line support for system issues and liaise with external vendors as needed
Deliver training to finance and non-finance users to ensure optimal system use
Contribute to workflow design, testing and systems controls
Suitable Candidate for the System Accountant vacancy:

Previous experience in a System Accountant or Finance Systems Analyst role within a professional services environment
Strong SQL skills – able to write and troubleshoot complex queries confidently
Advanced Power BI user, with hands-on experience in dashboard development and data modelling
Solid understanding of accounting principles; ideally part or fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets
Confident communicator, capable of engaging across finance and non-finance stakeholders
Highly organised with strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
