Ready to shape the future of data?
Matillion is the intelligent data integration platform.
We're changing how the world works with data – and we need driven, curious people who think big and move fast.
We built the Data Productivity Cloud to supercharge data productivity, and now we’re shaping the future of data engineering with Maia – our AI-powered virtual data engineers that help teams design, build, and manage data pipelines at unmatched speed.
Join #TeamGreen, where the mission comes first, collaboration drives us forward, and everyone pulls in the same direction to make a dent in the universe bigger than ourselves.
About the role We're Matillion, and we're building the first AI Data Automation platform. Our cloud infrastructure is the foundation everything runs on, and we need people who treat it that way. As a Cloud Operations Analyst, you'll be a key contributor to the reliability, scalability and security of our cloud-native platforms, working closely with our Senior Cloud Analyst across AWS, GCP and Azure. This is an individual contributor role at the intersection of Cloud Infrastructure, FinOps and SRE, where attention to detail and a bias for action matter every single day.

This isn't a ticket-closing role. You'll be analysing performance, driving cost efficiency, owning FinOps governance and applying AI tooling to make yourself and the team faster and sharper. If you're early in your cloud career but hungry to go deep, work with autonomy and build something that scales, this is the place to do it. We value in person collaboration therefore this role follows our hybrid work pattern where we come together 2 days a week in our Manchester office.About the role We're Matillion, and we're building the first AI Data Automation platform. What you will be doing

  • Contributing to the design and implementation of Matillion's cloud infrastructure estate and Infrastructure as Code across AWS (primary), GCP and Azure, monitoring performance, supporting automated deployments and keeping cloud spend lean and efficient
  • Taking ownership of FinOps governance; analysing cloud usage patterns, managing Reserved Instances and Savings Plans, partnering with Finance and ensuring we scale without wasting a penny
  • Implementing and auditing cloud security best practices across IAM, VPC configuration and encryption; maintaining our SOC2 and ISO 27001 standards and handling routine IAM requests with a least-privilege mindset
  • Applying AI tooling to accelerate your workflows and sharing what you learn with the wider team; you're not just using AI, you're helping build a culture that knows how to use it well
  • Contributing to a culture of documentation, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing; you spot inefficiencies, flag them and help fix them
  • What we are looking for

  • Some experience in a Cloud Operations, DevOps or SRE role supporting high-availability SaaS environments, with working familiarity of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS) and comfort reading and editing Terraform modules
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and Docker, plus the ability to write and maintain scripts in Python or Bash to automate routine operational tasks
  • A sharp eye for cloud cost optimisation; you can read usage data, identify inefficiencies and translate findings into clear recommendations that guide real infrastructure decisions
  • A genuine willingness to master AI-powered developer tools like Claude Code; you see AI as a productivity multiplier and you're not waiting to be told to use it
  • Inquisitive, autonomous and detail-focused; you dig into root causes, not just symptoms, and you thrive working in a small, high-trust team where your contributions are visible

Where to Advertise Data Engineering Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising data engineering jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. Data engineers occupy a distinct discipline that sits between software engineering, data science and cloud infrastructure — and the strongest candidates identify firmly with the data engineering community rather than with adjacent roles. General job boards consistently conflate data engineering with data analysis, data science and BI development, producing high application volumes but low candidate quality for specialist pipeline and platform roles. This guide, published by DataEngineeringJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise data engineering roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

New Data Engineering Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Driving the Data Revolution

Data engineering is at the heart of the digital economy, transforming raw data into actionable insights, powering analytics, AI systems, and cloud infrastructure. As the UK and global markets continue to invest heavily in data platforms, pipelines, and real-time analytics, demand for skilled data engineers is growing rapidly. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.DataEngineeringJobs.co.uk , the critical question is: which companies are expanding, hiring, and shaping the future of data-driven business? This article highlights new data engineering employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, scale-ups, and international firms expanding in the UK.

How Many Data Engineering Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Data Engineering Job?

If you’re aiming for a career in data engineering, it can feel like you’re staring at a never-ending list of tools and technologies — SQL, Python, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, Redshift, Terraform, Kubernetes, and the list goes on. Scroll job boards and LinkedIn, and it’s easy to conclude that unless you have experience with every modern tool in the data stack, you won’t even get a callback. Here’s the honest truth most data engineering hiring managers will quietly agree with: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every tool — they hire you because you can solve real data problems with the tools you know. Tools matter. But only in service of outcomes. Jobs are won by candidates who know why a technology is used, when to use it, and how to explain their decisions. So how many data engineering tools do you actually need to know to get a job? For most job seekers, the answer is far fewer than you think — but you do need them in the right combination and order. This article breaks down what employers really expect, which tools are core, which are role-specific, and how to focus your learning so you look capable and employable rather than overwhelmed.
