Are you a seasoned systems developer with deep expertise in IntelliPen and a strong background in defined benefit pension schemes?

We’re working with a major pensions organisation to recruit a Senior Systems Developer to join their Member Services team. This is a key technical leadership role, offering the chance to own system design, lead development projects, and play a pivotal part in modernising one of the most important platforms in UK pensions administration.

The Role

As Senior Systems Developer, you’ll be responsible for the configuration, innovation, and ongoing improvement of the IntelliPen pensions administration platform. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams, external suppliers (notably Procentia), and senior stakeholders to deliver robust, high-quality solutions that enhance member experience and support operational excellence.

You’ll also take on a coaching and leadership role within the development team, supporting junior colleagues and ensuring best practices across all projects and sprint activity.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and configuration of workflows, calculations, reporting, document production, portals and system feeds within IntelliPen
Own solution design from concept to implementation, ensuring alignment with business needs and system architecture
Work closely with QA and project leads to deliver testable, scalable solutions
Support sprint planning and contribute to ongoing AAF compliance reporting
Act as a technical expert in stakeholder meetings and cross-functional projects
Provide mentoring and technical coaching to colleagues across the AST teamEssential Skills & Experience

Strong experience with the IntelliPen platform (including IntelliSite)
Proven track record in defined benefit pensions systems
Excellent SQL skills and solid Microsoft Office capability
Experience in structured project environments (Agile, Waterfall or blended)
Confident working across multiple projects and workstreams
Excellent communication skills and ability to coach/mentor others
Analytical, solutions-driven mindset with strong problem-solving skills
