Fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent position as a Cloud Architect with DCC. The Cloud Architect will be working as part of a team of Cloud Architects and DevOps engineers. The Cloud Architect will provide deep expertise in Cloud technologies and practices, in conjunction with strong architectural skills, to be a pillar of best practice within the team and drive development and adoption of best-fit technology to internal customers of the cloud services. The Cloud Architect includes design, deployment, configuration, and support, of Cloud-based infrastructure and platforms as part of a delivery and enablement team to meet business requirements. Working pattern is predominantly operating within core business hours but some work outside of normal business hours may be required on occasion.

What will you be doing?

  • To be a subject matter expert within the Enterprise IT Cloud Team in the areas of Cloud technology, design methodology, and solution architecture, especially within AWS and overseeing and mentoring technical and design work within the team.

  • To work with Smart DCC’s partners and internal customers to provide requirements analysis, design assurance, guidance, solution design proposals, and infrastructure-as-code translations of business requirements and designs.

  • Keeping up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices in DevOps, Cloud technology, and architectural design, to analyse gaps, propose change, and drive improvement.

  • Participate in support, maintenance, and patching processes, as part of the technical team.

  • Ensuring the reliability, security, performance, cost-efficiency, and operational excellence of Cloud platforms and infrastructure.

  • Producing clear and concise documentation, processes, procedures, and training material to support other members of the team.

  • Liaising and managing customer expectations and setting realistic timeframes.

    What are we looking for?

  • Extensive AWS technical experience required, including CLI, API, and console in a multi-account Organization. This should include:

  • Networking and DNS components, Compute, Storage and Backup platforms, Logging, Messaging, and Alerting services, Organisational account management platforms, Serverless platforms, Data Lake/ Lake House platforms, services & architecture, IAM roles and policies, Security and audit tools and practices

  • Experience with implementing complex Terraform IaC and multi-branch CI/CD pipelines including experience of designing, developing, and working with, CI/CD pipelines including multi-branch deployments and automated testing.

  • Extensive experience of working within an architectural framework such as TOGAF or BCS to design Cloud based solutions.

  • Experience of running well-architected reviews for cloud workloads, security penetration testing and remediations.

  • Experience with ISO 27001 and other best practices.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including presentation skills and ability to articulate technical information and convey to non-technical people.
