A leading Lloyd's syndicate has an exciting opportunity for a Data Platform Engineer to join a growing Data Platform team to be responsible for developing and maintaining a modern, scalable and reliable data architecture.

The candidate will be integral to the successful delivery or their data transformation programme and data-driven decision-making initiatives, consisting of embedding self-service insights capabilities into their organisation that are fit for today’s needs and transitioning from legacy MS stack-based architecture to modern cloud solutions which are underpinned by their data governance framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementing and maintaining solutions leveraging Azure-based cloud architecture

  • Maintaining solutions based on the traditional MS stack

  • Eliciting business requirements from use cases

  • Root cause analysis for raised issues, and delivering the resolution

  • Business-facing and building strong relationships with our key stakeholders

  • Identify and communicate training or resource gaps to management.

  • Promote team working and develop a strong team with a clear culture and identity.

  • Ensure that all accounts are contract certain.

  • Report any suspicion of financial crime to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer immediately.

  • Operate within the Company’s standards for Treating Customers Fairly.

  • Manage any potential conflicts of interest to avoid disrepute to the company’s integrity.

  • Advise Compliance of any complaints immediately.

    Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience working within a data function in a London Market Insurance setting

  • Sound understanding of data warehousing concepts

  • Contributions to well-designed data platform and data warehouse solutions

  • ETL/ELTs – SSIS & T-SQL, Data Factory, Databricks / Apache Spark

  • Data modelling

  • Strong communication skills and able to build relationships and trust with our stakeholders

  • Working within an agile delivery environment, leveraging tools such as Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and source control

  • A problem-solver with an analytical mindset

  • Microsoft Engineering-related qualifications

  • London Market Certifications beneficial

  • Business Analysis qualifications beneficial
