Lead/Senior Data Engineer – Global Software Company – Ideally hybrid 2 to 4 days a month in Hastings, East Sussex – up to 70K plus an extensive benefits package.

Stratospherec is delighted to be recruiting for a Lead/Senior Data Engineer with strong leadership and mentoring expertise to join the talented data services team at our client, a leading global software technology company based in East Sussex. This is a unique opportunity for a ‘hands on’ Lead/Senior Data Engineer who is able to demonstrate previous proven success leading on strategy and deliverables for a number of years at an end client. Additionally, you should have proven leadership and mentoring experience, with a high level of competency in Microsoft Azure data tools, particularly Microsoft Fabric, with an emphasis on OneLake and Data Factory.

In this exciting Lead/Senior Data Engineer role, you will have a significant impact on company strategy, building out the company’s processes to collect, manage and convert raw data to evaluate and optimise organisational performance via reports and other data sources. Naturally, you will be a strategic visionary who is highly adept at leading cross departmental collaboration to understand requirements and needs.

This hybrid Lead/Senior Data Engineer role will ideally be based 2 to 4 days a month at the company’s beautiful office in Hastings, East Sussex, with the remainder working remotely. This role is offering a competitive salary up to 70K plus an extensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentoring and leadership, coaching and training colleagues in their career and personal development whilst managing, maintaining, and evolving the company’s data platform and data sinks to support future growth.

• Designing, creating, managing, and maintaining required ETL/ELT processes.

• Providing input throughout key projects and into a data strategy and road map to enable future growth as well as addressing legacy systems.

• Maintaining knowledge of technology trends and offerings with a view to evaluating and implementing any required to fulfil requirements.

• Working with key stakeholders in and out of projects providing timely work updates when required.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Ability to demonstrate success and deliverables as a Lead/Senior Data Engineer at an end client, with proven leadership and mentoring experience.

• Demonstrable experience in design and implementation of Data Architecture patterns and data modelling as well as a problem-solver, with excellent critical thinking skills, able to identify and solve potential problems, and approach database design from a structured, standards-based point of view.

• Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and experience of Microsoft Azure data tools, particularly Microsoft Fabric, with an emphasis on OneLake and Data Factory.

• ELT/ETL experience (Data Transformation).

• SQL Server database and solution design, structure, maintenance and best practises. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an extensive breadth and depth of T-SQL skills.
