Pertemps, the UK’s largest independent recruitment agency, is looking for a confident and capable Senior SQL Database Administrator to take ownership of our SQL Server estate and Azure SQL Data Warehouse environment. It’s a brilliant opportunity for someone who loves improving performance, solving tricky problems, and keeping everything in top shape.
 
What you’ll be doing as a Senior SQL Database Administrator:

Managing, monitoring, and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases
Supporting Azure PaaS databases, including Azure SQL and Managed Instances
Handling backups, restores, and recovery models
Implementing and maintaining High Availability and Disaster Recovery
Troubleshooting connection issues across servers, firewalls, proxies, and networks
Carrying out performance tuning and optimisation to keep systems running at their best
Advising on and reworking existing databases to boost efficiency and cut costs
Overseeing database access and security patch management
Migrating SQL data from on-premise SQL Server to Azure SQL using Data Migration tools
Creating and maintaining scripts using SQLCMD and PowerShell 
What we’re looking for:

Solid experience working as a Senior SQL Database Administrator or in a similar senior-level role
Hands-on experience with database server security patching
Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Data Warehouse and ETL or data pipelines (ADF)
Good understanding of database access management
Confident with SQL Server Administration, performance tuning and optimisation
Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models
Knowledge of HA and DR solutions
Ability to support Azure PaaS environments
Experience migrating SQL data
Strong troubleshooting skills, especially around networking issues
Scripting experience with SQLCMD and PowerShell 
It would be a bonus if you have SQL certifications, or experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Azure SQL Data Warehouse.
