The Role:
This role will deliver innovative software solutions to support both new and existing products, ensuring they remain market-leading and meet the expectations of the company’s global customers, brand values, and standards. You will collaborate with the Innovation Manager and software design engineer to execute the product development plan, ensuring adherence to Design Language Guidelines and compliance with relevant EU Directives. The Lead Software Design Engineer plays a critical role in delivering the company's NPD plan on schedule while also contributing to the growth and effectiveness of the Innovation Team.
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure new products consistently align with brand values by adhering to established design guidelines
  • Identify and advocate for the adoption of emerging technologies and processes to maintain market-leading products. Inspire and encourage innovative thinking and creative design solutions within the Innovation team
  • Establish rigorous testing protocols to ensure all new products are thoroughly tested, surpassing design limits to guarantee durability in real-world conditions
  • Provide training, tools, fixtures, test rigs, BOMs, processes, build manuals, quality plans, etc., to facilitate the smooth transition of new products into mainstream production
  • Offer support and guidance to the Software Design Engineer in fulfilling their responsibilities within the P2P documentation, ensuring timely delivery
  • Foster and encourage continuous improvement in working methods

  • Consider operator or environmental misuse during the design process
  • Apply user-centered design principles (informed by user research and rapid prototyping) to create intuitive products that ideally eliminate the need for an operator's manual
  • Focus on ease of fault diagnosis and serviceability during design
  • Ensure technical project documentation is thorough, supporting product compliance with the product development life cycle across design, development, unit testing/TDD/Mocking, and agile methodologies, while adhering to the latest EU directives such as EMC, RoHS, WEEE

    Experience Required:
  • The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in software disciplines, preferably with experience in the manufacturing sector
  • A minimum of HND qualification in software, science, or mathematics is required
  • Proficiency in C#, JavaScript, Node.js, and Next.js is essential
  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming principles
  • Familiarity with WPF, MVVM, AWS, JSON, HTML, and web technologies
  • Expertise in .NET, LINQ, SQL Server, SQLite, GitHub, Visual Studio
