The Opportunity

Our client are expanding their software engineering team to meet the requirements of a demanding and exciting product roadmap. The business develop all the software required for their range of radar products, from the radar's onboard processing software to the external command and control. To deliver the capabilities that next generation radars require, they are undertaking a program of extensive software development.

The role involves the design and development of software across radar systems, including external radar control systems and interfaces. You will also be developing interfaces to third party security & surveillance systems and bringing broad improvements to software capabilities & the user experience. The right candidate will bring some relevant software industry experience, be enthusiastic and professional, and interested in working on new technologies and techniques.

Key responsibilities

Design and develop software for radar systems.
Design and develop software to aid integration with third party surveillance & security systems.
Design and develop software to improve and enhance our users' experiences.
Contribute to the improvement of software engineering techniques within the business.Required Qualifications & skills

Solid software development experience.
Good understanding and experience of object-oriented software design.
Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Creative & analytic problem-solving skills.
Effective at working directly with end customers & users.You should have some of the following

Software based degree, or an engineering/science degree with software bias.
Experience in the development of security/defence command & control (C2) software.
Experience of using and manipulating GIS (Geographic Information System) data.
Experience working with or knowledge of SQL databases.
Knowledge and experience of effective UI design & UX best practice.
Good understanding of real-time software design & development.
Experience with embedded Linux and embedded software development.
Experience with machine learning software techniques and classification methodologies.
Experience and understanding of C++.
Experience with Python or another software scripting language.
Mathematical and statistical analysis skills.
A driver's licence and passport for occasional project related business travel
