SQL Database Administrator – 3-month Contract – Fully Remote

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to support our customer as they transition from a legacy SQL Server 2016 environment to a managed SQL instance in Azure, ahead of SQL 2016's end-of-life deadline.

The SQL DBA will play a critical role in planning, executing, and supporting the migration of 20 databases—many of which support patient management systems—into the new Azure environment. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role working closely with technical teams and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities of the SQL DBA:

Lead the assessment, planning, and execution of the SQL Server 2016 to Azure SQL migration.
Migrate and optimize 20+ databases with minimal business disruption.
Ensure database integrity, performance, and security throughout the migration process.
Collaborate with application owners, including those managing healthcare or patient management systems, to ensure compatibility and business continuity.
Monitor and troubleshoot issues during and post-migration.
Document the migration approach, configurations, and processes.
Essential Skills & Experience from the SQL DBA:

Proven experience in SQL Server database administration, especially SQL 2016 and newer.
Hands-on experience migrating SQL Server databases to Azure SQL Managed Instances.
Strong knowledge of Azure database services, including performance tuning, networking, and security considerations.
Experience working in healthcare or clinical systems environments, ideally with patient management systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, delivery-focused approach.
The SQL DBA can work fully remote for the 3-month duration.
