Technical Design Engineer – Spider is advertising on behalf of a family business who are looking for a Technical Design Engineer to join their team in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire on a full-time permanent basis.

About the role:

As a Technical Design Engineer, you will provide detailed design of air conditioning and ventilation systems for clients, including conducting on-site surveys and design workshops to demonstrate our product. You will conduct on-site surveys and lead design workshops to showcase innovative products, ensuring that their solutions seamlessly integrate into stunning residential projects. Your expertise will contribute greatly to creating bespoke environments where comfort meets elegance.

Other key duties will include:

Conduct and lead site surveys, client meetings, and design workshops to gather requirements and present tailored solutions.
Develop intricate HVAC system designs using industry-standard software tools to create effective and efficient systems.
Perform precise heating and cooling load calculations and select suitable equipment for heating, cooling, and ventilation requirements.
Create detailed plant and ductwork layouts using AutoCAD, ensuring proper airflow distribution and component specification.
Evaluate and refine HVAC designs to maximise energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations throughout the design process.
Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure HVAC systems are perfectly integrated into overall building designs.
Provide ongoing technical guidance and support during the construction phase to ensure projects are executed flawlessly.
Work collaboratively with other trades to resolve any conflicts and ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems.
Review project plans and specifications to ensure alignment with the intended design.
Create detailed equipment schedules and facilitate project handover meetings with the operations team.

About you:

You need previous experience within Mechanical Engineering along with a strong understanding of HVAC principles and systems. Hold a mechanical engineering qualification and be proficient in CAD and HVAC design software (such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit). You will possess excellent communication skills in English. You will have analytical skills and attention to detail ensure that every aspect of your designs is up to the highest standards. You will need to be flexible as they will be an opportunity to travel as required to meet project demands.
