Job Title: DevOps Engineer

Location: Hybrid, working from home and Bristol

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience

About the Role
* Take ownership of the cloud infrastructure, ensuring it is scalable, secure, performant, and cost efficient
* Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using infrastructure as code principles, primarily Terraform
* Develop, maintain, and optimise CI CD pipelines using GitLab to support efficient and reliable software delivery
* Collaborate closely with software engineers to improve deployment processes and overall developer experience
* Monitor system performance, manage incidents, and implement long term fixes to enhance reliability
* Support environment management across production and non production systems
* Drive best practice across security, including IAM policies, secrets management, and network controls
* Contribute to disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and resilience improvements
* Continuously evaluate and adopt new DevOps tools and practices, including AI assisted development tools

Must Have Experience
* 3+ years experience in a DevOps or infrastructure engineering role
* Strong experience working within AWS environments
* Proven hands on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code
* Solid experience building and maintaining CI CD pipelines using GitLab
* Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like ECS
* Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, or Prometheus
* Strong understanding of security best practices including least privilege and secrets management
* Experience working in Agile software development environments
* Strong problem solving ability with a proactive and collaborative approach
* Experience or interest in using AI assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Kiro

Nice to Have
* Broader exposure to modern DevOps tooling and automation frameworks
* Experience working within fast growth or product led technology environments
* Understanding of cost optimisation and performance tuning in cloud infrastructure
* Familiarity with disaster recovery and high availability design principles

About You
* An experienced DevOps Engineer who enjoys owning and improving infrastructure in a production environment
* Comfortable working across the full infrastructure lifecycle from provisioning through to monitoring
* A strong communicator who collaborates effectively with engineers and wider stakeholders
* Calm under pressure with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly
* Proactive, adaptable, and motivated to continuously improve systems and processes
