We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Business Intelligence & Data Engineer to join an established medium-sized business based in the Southampton / Portsmouth area, Hampshire. This is a hybrid role with at least 3 days per week in the office.

This BI Engineer role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a forward-thinking environment, focusing on the development and optimisation of data solutions that drive strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing and enhancing business intelligence processes, leveraging their expertise to support key organisational insights through advanced data analysis and visualisation techniques.

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable SQL databases and data pipelines to support business intelligence activities.

  • Build and optimise Power BI dashboards and reports to enable data-driven decision making across teams.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity through rigorous testing and validation procedures.

  • Automate data workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot data systems, ensuring optimal performance and resolving issues promptly.

  • Participate in data governance and security initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and policies.

This role would suit a driven BI & Data Engineer with excellent SQL Server / SQL skills and a passion for turning data into actionable insights.

  • Proven experience with SQL development, including database design and optimisation.

  • Strong knowledge of Power BI, with a demonstrated ability to create impactful dashboards and reports.

  • Experience with data modelling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and present insights clearly.

  • Good communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Self-motivated and proactive with a keen eye for detail and quality.

This BI & Data Engineer role is paying £45,000 - £55,000 depending on experience plus flexible working options, and the opportunity to contribute to an organisation committed to leveraging data for strategic growth.
