A leading systematic investment team is spinning out from a globally recognised hedge fund into an independent firm already managing $6bn+ AUM, with ambitions to become one of the largest quant spinouts in the industry.

They are hiring senior Quantitative Developers / Research & Data Engineers in London to help build the core infrastructure of the new platform. The environment combines the backing, leadership, and track record of an established fund with the speed, ownership, and technical culture of a high-performing startup. The CTO personally reviews candidates and expects exceptional technical and communication skills.

The role covers areas such as real-time market data systems, quantitative research infrastructure, cloud-based simulation platforms, trading execution environments, and tooling for new strategies and asset classes. The stack is primarily Python with C++, across cloud and on-prem infrastructure.

Candidates must have strong buy-side or equivalent high-performance engineering experience, deep Python and good C++ skills, quantitative understanding, and the ability to own major technical initiatives. Strong academic backgrounds from top universities are required.

Compensation is highly competitive, with London base salaries from £120k - £160k+ and total compensation commonly ranging from £450k to £600k+ depending on impact and seniority. Four days in-office, Mondays remote.

This is a rare opportunity to join a major quantitative trading spinout before the transition completes - at the stage where early hires help define the future platform and culture.

Where to Advertise Data Engineering Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise data engineering jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards and channels that reach Spark, dbt, Snowflake and platform engineering talent. Data engineers occupy a distinct discipline that sits between software engineering, data science and cloud infrastructure — and the strongest candidates identify firmly with the data engineering community rather than with adjacent roles. General job boards consistently conflate data engineering with data analysis, data science and BI development, producing high application volumes but low candidate quality for specialist pipeline and platform roles. This guide, published by DataEngineeringJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise data engineering roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
