Q Underwriting (part of PIB Group) was created from multiple underwriting brands with extensive history in their chosen niches.
Q Underwriting provides 30+ niche commercial lines products – all backed by A rated insurers.
There now exists an opportunity to recruit an Actuarial Analyst to support and assist with the reserving and pricing processes, supporting business capabilities for accurate analysis and insights.
You will be expected to capture and refine processes by collaborating with stakeholders to improve pricing and reporting outputs.
Responsibilities:
Technical

  • Support with the production of new pricing models utilising GLMs, GBMs, NNs
  • Maintain the quarterly reserving process via ResQ & Excel across all product lines: Motor, Casualty, Property & Others
  • Complete key data checks as part of monthly reporting processes
  • Cleanse and interrogate complex datasets to generate business insight
    Reporting
  • Contribute to the facilitation of automated reporting, data pipelines and quality assurance
  • Support delivery of the business plan across each of the portfolios
  • Communicate analysis and recommendations through data visualisations
    General
  • Participate in ad-hoc analyses and strategic initiatives as required to support business objectives.
  • Pursue professional development and excellence with the support of the Learning & Development team
    Requirements /Essential:
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or a related field
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of non-life industry experience
  • Experience analysing data and deriving insights from it.
  • Understanding of general insurance principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Some programming skills e.g. SQL or python
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
    Preferred:
  • Progressing towards an actuarial qualification or similar body
  • Experience with actuarial industry software: ResQ, Radar, Akur8, Emblem, Earnix
  • Experience in presenting technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the Lloyd’s and London markets lines of business
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, R, or VBA for data analysis and model development
