The Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for directing software development projects, producing clean code and coaching junior members of the team. You will possess extensive experience in software development, project management and have in-depth knowledge of programming languages and databases. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture and Principal Engineers to design and implement scalable, high-performance technical solutions that align with business objectives
  • Lead architectural discussions, driving best practices and innovative solutions within the development team
  • Stay the forefront of emerging technologies, ensuring the adoption of the latest industry trends and advancements
  • Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level and junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Optimise and enhance existing software and systems to improve efficiency, maintainability and scalability
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from initial concept and design to implementation, testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance
  • Implement advanced software features, resolve complex bugs and drive performance improvements
  • Product and review technical reports detailing system usage, capabilities, performance metrics and potential defects
  • Serve as a key engineering leader, setting technical direction and promoting a culture of excellence in coding standards, security and best practices
  • Create, update and maintain high-quality technical documentation, ensuring knowledge is well-documented and accessible
  • Maintain a strong focus on industry standards, security best practices and emerging methodologies to continuously enhance development processes
  • Work closely with engineering, operations and product teams to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery
    Requirements
    Essential:
  • Extensive experience with PHP and the Symfony framework
  • Strong expertise in database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Deep understanding of PSR standards and their application in modern PHP development
  • Proficiency in designing, implementing and maintaining robust testing frameworks
  • Strong leadership, communication and mentoring skills with a proven ability to guide and develop teams
  • Expert-level problem-solving and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Extensive experience in delivering high-quality applications using CI/CD tools and DevOps best practices
  • Technology-agnostic mindset with a willingness to explore and implement new technologies when appropriate e
  • Highly self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
  • Deep understanding of the importance and implementation of comprehensive testing strategies
  • Significant experience supporting, modifying and maintaining complex systems and code developed by diverse teams
    Desirable:
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Go, Python or Rust
  • Experience with Event-Driven Architectures (EDA) and messaging systems
  • Hands-on experience with package and dependency management tools
  • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions and infrastructure, including AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
  • Experience with container orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and working with Agile teams
