Job Overview: On behalf of our client, an established injection moulding manufacturer, we are looking for a Toolmaker to join their team.
Role:

  • Carry out Repairs, make improvements and modifications of precision tools, dies, moulds, and fixtures within injection moulding operation.
  • Analyse blueprints, specifications and material requirements to determine optimal design and production methods.
  • Program and operate computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacturing (CAM) software.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometres, gauge blocks, drop clocks, shadowgraph to measure, inspect and confirm tooling conforms to CAD data.
  • Collaborate with technical and production team to ensure quality and functionality of tooling, fixtures or jigs required within the operation.
  • Implement necessary changes to improve tool performance and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot issues with tools and recommend repairs or modifications.
  • Carry out general tool maintenance and repairs as part of daily task.
  • Maintain accurate records of tool repairs, modifications, production and performance.
  • Adhere to safety, quality and production standards.
  • Continuously learn and stay current with advancements in tool making technology and equipment.
  • Carry out continuous 5S improvements within the toolroom to support with daily efficiency.
    Experience:
  • Previous mould tool maintenance / tool making experience
  • Engineering Qualifications / Time Served Apprenticeship
  • Knowledge of operating toolroom machinery such as Lathe, Milling, Grinding, Polishing and Spark eroding equipment – Sodic / Charmilles.
  • Must be familiar with hot runner and valve gate systems – Yudo particularly.
  • Have knowledge of multi cavitation tooling with a basic understanding of hydraulic & electrical wiring systems.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, work on own initiative or within a small tooling team.
  • Understanding of electrical systems
  • Ability to read and understand 2D drawings
  • Computer literate with experience of using MS Excel, MS Word & Power Point
