The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Data Engineer to join a leading organisation.

You will play a key role in developing and enhancing a modern, cloud-based data platform, helping to transform how data is collected, managed and utilised across the business.

Working within a high-performance environment, you will help deliver innovative data solutions that support performance analytics, operational efficiency and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL.

* Build and enhance a cloud-based enterprise data platform using Azure and Databricks.

* Develop robust data integration processes to support analytics, reporting and business intelligence.

* Ensure data quality, governance, security and compliance with relevant regulations.

* Undertake database administration activities, including performance optimisation, indexing and access management.

* Explore and develop AI-driven automation to monitor data pipelines and improve operational efficiency.

* Utilise Azure DevOps for version control, development workflows and collaboration.

* Work closely with Data Scientists, analysts and other stakeholders to deliver effective data solutions.

* Troubleshoot technical issues and continuously improve platform performance and reliability.

Essential Skills & Experience

* Strong commercial experience in Data Engineering, particularly developing data pipelines using Python.

* Excellent SQL skills and a solid understanding of database design and data modelling.

* Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure and/or Databricks.

* Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data integration techniques.

* Understanding of data governance, security and quality standards.

* Experience with version control and CI/CD practices.

* Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Desirable Skills

* Experience with Azure DevOps.

* Knowledge of AI-driven automation and data pipeline monitoring.

* Experience working with large, complex datasets.

* Exposure to sports analytics, performance data, GPS tracking or similar datasets.

* Experience collaborating with Data Scientists and analytics teams.
