Senior SQL Database Engineer (Night Shift)

Night Shift - 10pm-6am

UK - Remote | up to £73,000 + bonus, pension, health insurance

The Role

As a Senior Cloud Database Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of critical database environments in a 24/7 cloud-first ecosystem.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll be trusted to optimise, innovate, and continuously improve systems that simply cannot fail.

What you'll be doing

Managing and optimising high-availability SQL Server environments

Driving database performance tuning and system efficiency

Owning backup, recovery, and disaster resilience strategies

Implementing and maintaining robust database security practices

Supporting real-time, high-volume data systems

Collaborating across engineering teams to solve complex technical challengesWhat you'll bring

Strong experience managing mission-critical SQL Server databases

Advanced T-SQL expertise

Proven experience with replication and high availability (Availability Groups)

A problem-solving mindset with the ability to work in fast-paced environments

Confidence working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)

Experience with modern data technologies (e.g. Kafka, Snowflake, Aurora)

Scripting or development experience (PowerShell, C#, .NET)

Familiarity with data tools (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)

Version control and DevOps tooling (GitHub, etc.)What's in it for you
