Ready to shape the future of data?
Matillion is the intelligent data integration platform.
We're changing how the world works with data – and we need driven, curious people who think big and move fast.
We built the Data Productivity Cloud to supercharge data productivity, and now we’re shaping the future of data engineering with Maia – our AI-powered virtual data engineers that help teams design, build, and manage data pipelines at unmatched speed.
Join #TeamGreen, where the mission comes first, collaboration drives us forward, and everyone pulls in the same direction to make a dent in the universe bigger than ourselves.
About the role At Matillion, we are moving beyond traditional data processing to define the future of the AI Data Automation Platform. Our mission is to make data "AI-ready" at the speed of thought, centred around Maia — our autonomous AI data engineering foundation.

The Senior Staff Engineer (Frontend) is a high-leverage technical leader responsible for driving architectural excellence across our React-powered ecosystem. The web UI is where Maia's power is harnessed, visualised, and controlled. This role is the technical authority responsible for ensuring our frontend is as sophisticated and performant as the AI it commands.

This role partners with the Senior Staff community to lead organisational "big bets" — including the evolution of our Design System, the expansion of our micro-frontend architecture, and ensuring our platform performs at a global scale. It sits at the intersection of technical craft, product vision, and organisational influence. Matillion operates on a hybrid basis, with us coming together 2 days a week in our Manchester office to collaborate and drive our mission forward.About the role At Matillion, we are moving beyond traditional data processing to define the future of the AI Data Automation Platform. What you will be doing

• Lead the frontend architectural vision for our React-powered platform — defining scalable patterns, standards, and practices across multiple product squads
• Own the Design System strategy and micro-frontend architecture, driving consistency, modularity, and long-term scalability across our product surfaces
• Champion an agentic development culture — integrating AI tools into daily engineering workflows and staying ahead of the rapidly evolving GenAI landscape
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to align frontend strategy with the Maia platform roadmap, validating architectural proposals before full-scale development
• Develop engineering capability across squads through coaching, structured feedback, and leading by example on Matillion's engineering values

What we are looking for

• Expert-level React and TypeScript — deep understanding of component architecture, state management, event-driven architectures, test strategies, and performance optimisation at scale
• Proven ability to lead the design and delivery of significant frontend projects in a SaaS product environment, including cross-team strategic efforts like Design Systems or micro-frontends
• Deep proficiency in agentic development — AI tools are already part of your daily engineering workflow, not something you're exploring • Strong experience designing modular, testable frontend systems capable of supporting complex, AI-driven user workflows, with a solid grasp of frontend security best practices
• A strategic, economically-minded thinker who can zoom out to the organisational level, influence decisions, and balance long-term maintainability with delivery velocity Ready to shape the future of data? Where to Advertise Data Engineering Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising data engineering jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. Data engineers occupy a distinct discipline that sits between software engineering, data science and cloud infrastructure — and the strongest candidates identify firmly with the data engineering community rather than with adjacent roles. General job boards consistently conflate data engineering with data analysis, data science and BI development, producing high application volumes but low candidate quality for specialist pipeline and platform roles. This guide, published by DataEngineeringJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise data engineering roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

New Data Engineering Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Driving the Data Revolution

Data engineering is at the heart of the digital economy, transforming raw data into actionable insights, powering analytics, AI systems, and cloud infrastructure. As the UK and global markets continue to invest heavily in data platforms, pipelines, and real-time analytics, demand for skilled data engineers is growing rapidly. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.DataEngineeringJobs.co.uk , the critical question is: which companies are expanding, hiring, and shaping the future of data-driven business? This article highlights new data engineering employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, scale-ups, and international firms expanding in the UK.

How Many Data Engineering Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Data Engineering Job?

If you’re aiming for a career in data engineering, it can feel like you’re staring at a never-ending list of tools and technologies — SQL, Python, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, Redshift, Terraform, Kubernetes, and the list goes on. Scroll job boards and LinkedIn, and it’s easy to conclude that unless you have experience with every modern tool in the data stack, you won’t even get a callback. Here’s the honest truth most data engineering hiring managers will quietly agree with: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every tool — they hire you because you can solve real data problems with the tools you know. Tools matter. But only in service of outcomes. Jobs are won by candidates who know why a technology is used, when to use it, and how to explain their decisions. So how many data engineering tools do you actually need to know to get a job? For most job seekers, the answer is far fewer than you think — but you do need them in the right combination and order. This article breaks down what employers really expect, which tools are core, which are role-specific, and how to focus your learning so you look capable and employable rather than overwhelmed.
