Introduction
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced DBT Therapist to join a well-established mental health service in Somerset as a DBT Specialist Practitioner. This role is ideal for a clinician with a thorough understanding of all five functions of the intensive DBT model and a passion for working with individuals with complex mental health needs, including personality disorders.

The post holder will play a central role in delivering the DBT therapeutic programme, supporting service development, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide structured, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver weekly individual DBT therapy sessions and facilitate DBT skills groups.

Create and maintain DBT-focused psychological formulations for each service user.

Support patients with their Behavioural Incentive Pathways.

Enhance DBT awareness and coaching across the wider team.

Complete and contribute to CPA reports, care notes, and progress documentation.

Attend ICR, CPA, and reflective practice meetings regularly.

Conduct assessments and provide written psychological reports.

Support adherence to the full DBT model and associated service delivery standards.

Identify opportunities for service development and support implementation.

Provide supervision and mentoring to junior therapy staff and assistants.

Requirements
Minimum 5 years post-registration experience in a relevant clinical setting.

At least 2 years' direct experience in a DBT-focused role.

Proven track record of leading and evaluating DBT interventions.

Strong interpersonal, leadership, and documentation skills.

Accredited DBT training and experience in delivering all DBT components.

Confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Service Overview
The service is based within a modern, purpose-built hospital in Somerset, supporting adults with complex mental health needs. It consists of multiple wards, including dedicated services for individuals with mental health diagnoses and learning disabilities/autism. The service works in partnership with local NHS providers and offers a structured, therapeutic environment for recovery-focused care.
