Transformation Communications Lead

I am recruiting for an experienced Communications Lead to work for the Department for Business and Trade on an interim contract for 6-12 months. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a major transformation programme in DBT where you will help shape and deliver strategic communications during a period of significant change. SC clearance is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the internal communications strategy across the organisation, ensuring it aligns with transformation objectives
Partner with senior stakeholders to ensure clarity and consistency in messaging
Deliver targeted communications campaigns that support transformation goals
Support the organisation and facilitate regular staff engagement events (e.g. town halls, updates) to maintain transparent communication during change
Oversee and improve internal channels to ensure messages are timely, accessible, and well-received
Develop and implement innovative, compelling and appropriately toned communications in an internal comms/change setting
Manage one direct report, providing leadership and development opportunities
Measure and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of transformation communicationsEssential Skills and Experience

A proven track record of delivering communications, particularly during periods of change or restructuring
Experience working in a complex or matrixed organisation - with at least some professional experience of working in government
Strong stakeholder management skills and experience of working effectively with senior leaders
An accomplished writer.
Confident in supporting work to develop the look and feel
A thinker and a doer - with a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery capabilities
Experience running staff meetings, creative campaigns, and managing internal comms channels
Evidence of measuring the success and impact of campaigns
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong project management abilities
Experience of creating content for various internal channelsDesirable Skills

Knowledge of change management methodologies
Experience working within a government transformation programme
Digital communications expertise and video editing skills
Understanding of the department's wider strategic objectives
