Shift Pattern: Days, Monday to Friday, 40 Hours per Week

We’re supporting our client, a global, leading injection moulding company based in Clacton-on-Sea, who are looking for a Toolmaker to join their growing team. The successful Toolmaker will have previous experience and expertise in precision injection mould toolmaking, as well as solid experience in machining, grinding and manual bench work.

Job Summary: As a Toolmaker, you’ll leverage your expertise using a variety of engineering workshop machinery, including mills, lathes, grinders, spark eroders, wire eroders, and CNC milling machines. In addition, you’ll manage engaging projects that contribute to the continued growth and success of the business.

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop into a dual position encompassing toolmaking and, with training, progression to an Operations Manager role along with increased earning potential.

Responsibilities for Toolmaker:

  • Repair and modify existing injection mould tools.

  • Design and manufacture new mould tools.

  • Accurately read and interpret technical drawings.

  • Operate manual machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders with competence.

  • Utilize manual spark eroders and wire eroders effectively.

    About You:

  • A proven track record in Toolmaking with solid experience in machining, grinding, and manual bench work.

  • Essential: Expertise in precision injection mould toolmaking.

  • Proficiency in operating manual machinery, including mills, lathes, and grinders.

  • Experience with manual spark eroders is required.

  • Wire eroder experience is preferred, though training can be provided.

  • Essential: CAD experience, preferably using SolidWorks or AutoCAD (Autodesk).

  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems is beneficial.

  • CNC milling experience with Mazak, Mazatrol, Bridgeport, and Heidenhain operating systems.

  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn new skills and engineering technologies.
